One way for me to create space professionally for people to experience or at least talk about death how they want to is by encouraging intergenerational conversations in my classroom. I teach a college class with people who range in age from 17 to 60 or so. Facilitating conversations about different typical life experiences occurring at these ages, including death may help create space. I can also be inviting of students to inform me if they are grieving so that I may be accommodating in their time of sorrow.
